Love's Eternal Legacy
Arvin S. Gibson
Review
This is a tender tale of love that cannot be bound by the veil of forgetfulness
which separates us from the loved ones we knew and are yet to know. Arvin
Gibson weaves this tale from knowledge about what life is like beyond
the veil, drawn from his personal interviews with hundreds who have had
near-death experiences and glimpses of their pre-mortal life.

The class was already in session when Laura arrived. Smiling at her
as she entered, Teacher Gallexus mind-transmitted a quick synopsis of
what had been covered in her absence. Then he continued orally instructing
the class in Earth characteristics.
"So, you see, Earth was formed by Elohim, the Father, Jehovah, the
Son, and Michael (who became Adam) in such a way as to emphasize physical
characteristics, and to de-emphasize spiritual characteristics. When you
go to Earth, your memory of a spiritual life before Earth life will be
obliterated. You will have The Word from prophets and from The History,
and there will be prayer, but many people will not believe The Word."
"How can they not believe?" asked Shemey.
"Because, aside from the written Word, there will be no evidence
that you existed before Earth life or that you will exist after it."
"Won't the Earth itself, and all the living creatures in it, be evidence
of the living Father and his Son?" Laura asked.
"That's a good question. The problem is, in order to protect agency,
or free will, knowledge of life after life on Earth must be very obscure.
Thus, when you reach the end of your life, as with all other living forms
of life, your bodies will die. People will see what happens after death,
and many will think that's all there is."
"Please explain death, again, Teacher Gallexus. It sounds so ghastly,
I'm not sure that I understand it," Sharnz requested.
Gallexus smiled. "To those on earth who do not believe in The Word,
it will be ghastly. At your appointed time your body will experience pain
and illness, or because of an accident it will not function properly,
and it will cease to live. At death, the spirit will leave the body and
return to Father. Other living people who witness this death will not
be able to see the spirit, except in exceptional circumstances. To them,
the body will become cold and the limbs will fail to move. With time,
the body will decay to dust. Viewing the decayed body of a dead person,
with its accompanying heavy odor of decay, many will be convinced that
this is the end destiny of all living beings—to be destroyed with
no consciousness of ever having existed."
"How does pain work?" asked Sharnz.
"It's understandable that you cannot know what pain is; you've never
experienced it. When I went to Earth, and other Teachers had explained
the idea to me, I only dimly understood what they were talking about.
Yet, when it happened to me it was a vivid experience, and it was not
pleasant.
"You say that pain is unpleasant. How can anything that's unpleasant
be good?" asked Shamz.
"It's good in the sense that it alerts you to problems that need
to be corrected to protect your body. It also is a great teaching tool
to see how well you respond to this form of adversity. Satan and his followers
will be there trying to get you to surrender to the pain. But that's the
subject of a different lesson."
Gallexus searched the room, using thought transference to find out how
the students were receiving his instruction. Most of them seemed to be
absorbing it reasonably well. He knew from his thought query of Laura
that Mathias was absent and would have trouble accepting some of the ideas.
He wondered if Mathias would be ready for Earth when Laura left. She was
so anxious for them to go together. Considering these issues, he looked
again at
Laura, and she signalled a question.
"Yes, Laura?"
"I still wonder why people on Earth disbelieve in Father and the
Son. I object to your characterization of God as an idea. The Father and
the Son are not an idea—they are real, and they created us and everything
in the universe."
Smiling to himself at Laura's vigorous defense of God, Gallexus said:
"You're right, Laura, but you're thinking in terms of a spiritual
being. Put yourself in the position of the Earth-bound scientist who knows
what his science teaches him and is skeptical of anything else."
"But the mind of God is made known to humans through The Word. All
they have to do is read the History. Furthermore, there are prophets to
tell them the mind of God. Surely that should help them understand what
God is saying."
"That would be true if they read and believed the History, or if
they listened to the prophets. A large fraction of them, though, do not
believe the History or the Prophets."
"How do they think that the Earth and all living things in it came
to be?"
